COURSE INFORMATION AND FEES

CTP Fast-track Workshop (CTPFW)

  • A 10-day in-person workshop designed to help students accelerate their progress through the Consultant Training Program (CTP) and/or the Grower Training Program (GTP) by giving them the opportunity to develop their skills in the following: Storage and preparation of compost starting materials; making Biological Compost; applied microscopy; compost recipe analysis, site assessment, soil sample collection, nematode extraction, protozoan infusion, experimental design, making compost extracts and teas, field application of extracts and teas, root-depth measurement; compaction analysis and infiltration rate measurement.
  • You’ll receive electronic handouts in this workshop.

How Much Time You’ll Need to Commit:

The workshop will begin at 8am on Monday, Jul 15, 2024 and will end at 4pm on Friday Jul 26, 2024(“Workshop Period”). There will be a two day break on the weekend of July 20/21, 2024.

Note: You are responsible for your own travel, accommodation and insurance for the workshop. The SFWS is not responsible for any activities that you decide to partake in on the weekend or at any time outside of the workshop.

Prerequisites:

  1. You must have completed Soil Food Web Foundation Course 3. If you have not completed Foundation Course 4 (FC4), you will be required to watch all the lectures in FC4 before you attend the workshop, but you will not be required to have taken FC4 quizzes (we’ll set you up with a special pass so you can skip the quizzes). This is to ensure that you have a good understanding of the microscopy that will be used at the workshop.
  2. You are responsible for obtaining your own travel, medical, and medical evacuation insurance before attending the workshop. Failure to do so may result in you being refused admission to the workshop and a refund being withheld. You must provide evidence of the insurance if requested by the Soil Food Web School.
  3. You will be required to attend Safety Training and to sign the “Workshop Handbook” on day 1 of the workshop.
  4. It is your sole responsibility to look into whether you need a visa to travel from your home country and if your passport allows you to enter and stay in Costa Rica for the workshop.
