COURSE INFORMATION AND FEES

 

What’s Included: 

With the Ecosystem Restoration Bundle Payment Plan, you are registering for the Foundation Courses (FC) at the price of $4,345 (regular price $5,000), the Introduction to Ecosystem Restoration for free (regular price $1,400), the Certified Lab-Tech Program for free (regular price $1,000) and the Soil Food Web Essentials for free (regular price $199).

Note: Access to the Certified Lab-Tech Program is conditional upon achieving an overall average of 90% or more in the FC.

Notes on access: 

  1. With the first payment, you'll receive access to Foundation Course 1 (FC1).
  2. With the second payment, you'll receive access to Foundation Course 2 (FC2).
  3. With the third payment, you’ll receive access to Foundation Course 3 (FC3).
  4. With the fourth payment, you’ll receive access to Foundation Course 4 (FC4).
  5. With the fifth and final payment, you will receive access to the Introduction to Ecosystem Restoration (IER) course and the Soil Food Web Essentials (SFWE). 


Foundation Courses (FC):

  • Series of 4 self-paced, online courses covering the theory and application methodology behind the Soil Food Web Approach. This comprises 63 lectures totaling more than 40 hours of lectures.
  • Includes access to the FC Forum where students can interact with each other and with the Faculty. Access to the FC Forum is 12 months from when a student begins the FC. After 12 months, FC Forum access is changed to read only and will remain in place for as long as we maintain the Forum.
  • Printable/downloadable materials: Lecture slides, course manual, glossary.

How Much Time You’ll Need to Commit:

Students typically require about 150 hours to complete the FC at a reasonable pace.

A student can complete the FC in 4 weeks if studying full-time. The maximum time allowed to complete the FC is 12 months.

On successful completion of the FC with an overall average of 90% or more, you qualify to enroll in one of the Advanced Programs e.g. the Consultant Training Program (CTP), the Grower Training Program (GTP) and the Certified Lab-Tech Program (CLP), additional fees apply to all Advanced Programs except for the CLP. You will have 4 months from the date you complete the FC to enroll in one of the Advanced Programs, after which you will no longer be eligible for enrollment in any of the Advanced Programs.


Certified Lab-Tech Program (CLP):

  • 8 hours of One-on-One online Microscopy Training
  • Microscopy Proficiency Assessment (MPA)
  • How to Launch Your Lab Guidebook
  • Free listing as a Soil Food Web Lab-Tech on our website (conditional on passing the MPA).

How Much Time You’ll Need to Commit:

Students typically require about 40 hours to complete the CLP at a reasonable pace.
A student can complete the CLP in 1 month or less. The maximum time allowed to complete the CLP and the MPA is 3 months.

Recertification:

  • If you successfully complete the CLP and pass the MPA, you will be listed on the Soilfoodweb.com website as a Certified Soil Food Web Lab-Technician. In order to retain your certification, you will be required to retake the MPA 6 months after your first certification, and then every 12 months after that. If you fail to recertify, you will be removed from the website.
  • CLP recertification currently costs $150 each time. This fee is subject to change.

 


Introduction to Ecosystem Restoration (IER):

  • 32 hours of self-paced, online lectures covering ecological principles and ecosystem restoration techniques broken into four modules
  • Multiple-choice quizzes following each 2-hour Lesson will feature 2 quizzes, the first after Part 4 and the second after Part 8
  • Monthly student webinars with the teaching staff
  • Dedicated online forum
  • Printable/downloadable materials: Lecture slides and course manual

How Much Time You’ll Need to Commit:

Students typically require about 20 hours of study per module. The maximum time allowed to complete the IER is 12 months.


Soil Food Web Essentials (SFWE):

  • The SFWE comprises 31 pre-recorded video presentations with about 6 hours of content.
  • As well as the video presentations, the SFWE includes optional short quizzes, downloadable slide decks, and a Student Manual containing course guidance and resources for optional further student research.

How Much Time You’ll Need to Commit:

Students typically require about 10 hours to complete the SFWE at a reasonable pace. The maximum time allowed to complete the SFWE is 12 months.

 

 

 

Cost and Payment Terms: Ecosystem Restoration Bundle (2024)

 

Ecosystem Restoration Bundle 2024 (Payment Plan) :

A series of 5 payments of $869 each, totaling $4,345.
(Foundation Courses regular price $5,000 less $655 discount)

Includes:

Foundation Courses 1-4 (regular price $5,000) for $4,345
Introduction to Ecosystem Restoration (regular price $1,400) for no additional charge.
Certified Lab-Tech Program (regular price $1,000) for no additional charge.
Soil Food Web Essentials (regular price $199) for no additional charge.

Note: Access to the CLP is conditional upon achieving an overall average of 90% or more in the FC.

Supplies:

For all courses, You will need a computer (laptop or desktop) and internet access with sufficient bandwidth to stream video. For the CLP, you will also need a compound microscope, a microscope camera, and some ancillary lab equipment, such as pipettes and beakers. The cost of the microscope and camera will vary depending on the equipment you select. Budget:$450 USD minimum for microscope and camera, and a further $50 USD for the lab equipment.

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS 

Cancellation: You may cancel enrollment by giving written notice to Soil Food Web School. Unless the school has discontinued the program, you are financially obligated to the school. Our refund policy is as follows:

For the FC ONLY: If you have watched less than half the lectures (i.e., less than 32 lectures) and are within 30 days of registration, you are entitled to: 

A full refund.

For the FC ONLY: After completing half or more of the lectures or after 30 days from the registration date, whichever comes first.

No refund is available.

For the IER:

No refund is applicable because the IER is included FREE with the Ecosystem Restoration Bundle.

For the CLP:

No refund is applicable because the CLP is included FREE with the Ecosystem Restoration Bundle.

For the SFWE:

No refund is applicable because the SFWE is included FREE with the Ecosystem Restoration Bundle.

The School reserves the right to terminate a student’s participation for unsatisfactory progress, nonpayment of tuition, or failure to abide by established standards defined in the School’s Code of Conduct. Although the school may provide placement assistance, the school does not guarantee job placement to graduates upon program completion or graduation.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITIES
IN NO EVENT SHALL SOIL FOODWEB SCHOOL LLC’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT, WHETHER ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO BREACH OF CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE) OR OTHERWISE, EXCEED THE TOTAL OF THE AMOUNTS PAID TO SCHOOL PURSUANT TO THIS AGREEMENT.

Choice of Law; Jurisdiction and Venue for Disputes; Arbitration

This agreement and matters arising out of or relating to this agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, without giving effect to any conflicts of law provisions thereof. This agreement is deemed to be made in Oregon. EACH PARTY HERETO HEREBY WAIVES ITS RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY WITH RESPECT TO ANY DISPUTE OR CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THIS AGREEMENT and agrees that any dispute or claim that arises out of or that relates to this agreement, or to the interpretation or breach thereof, or to the existence, validity, or scope of this agreement or this arbitration provision, shall be resolved by arbitration in accordance with the then effective arbitration rules of (and by filing a claim with) Arbitration Service of Portland, Inc. THE SEAT OR PLACE OF ARBITRATION SHALL BE PORTLAND, OREGON, AND EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW, NEITHER PARTY NOR THE ARBITRATOR MAY DISCLOSE THE EXISTENCE, CONTENT OR RESULTS OF ANY ARBITRATION WITHOUT THE WRITTEN CONSENT OF BOTH PARTIES, UNLESS TO PROTECT OR PURSUE A LEGAL RIGHT. FINAL RESOLUTION OF ANY DISPUTE MAY INCLUDE ANY RELIEF THE ARBITRATOR DEEMS JUST AND EQUITABLE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANY LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY SET FORTH HEREIN. ANY AWARD OR RELIEF GRANTED BY THE ARBITRATOR SHALL BE FINAL AND BINDING ON THE PARTIES AND MAY BE ENFORCED BY ANY COURT OF COMPETENT JURISDICTION. FOR ANY DISPUTE ARISING HEREUNDER OR RELATED HERETO THAT MAY BE BROUGHT IN COURT, EACH PARTY HEREBY IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY: (A) CONSENTS AND SUBMITS TO THE EXCLUSIVE JURISDICTION OF THE STATE AND FEDERAL COURTS LOCATED IN PORTLAND, OREGON; AND (B) WAIVES ANY OBJECTION TO THAT CHOICE OF FORUM BASED ON VENUE OR TO THE EFFECT THAT THE FORUM IS NOT CONVENIENT.
