It is with deep appreciation and admiration that we announce the retirement of Dr. Elaine Ingham, a groundbreaking microbiologist whose work has redefined our understanding of soil science and the soil food web.
For decades, Dr. Ingham has been a leading voice in the field of soil biology, championing the critical role of microorganisms in building healthy, sustainable ecosystems. As a researcher, educator, and mentor, her pioneering studies and advocacy for regenerative agriculture have empowered farmers, scientists, and environmentalists worldwide to restore and sustain soil health.

In addition to her paradigm shifting contributions to the field of soil science, Dr. Ingham founded Soil Foodweb Inc., an organization dedicated to advancing soil biology knowledge and practices, including through the Soil Food Web School. Her passion for science, paired with her commitment to educating others, has left an indelible mark on both agriculture and environmental stewardship.
As Dr. Ingham embarks on her well-deserved retirement, she will no longer be available for teaching, mentoring, or project collaboration, including with the Soil Food Web school and Soil Foodweb Inc. She leaves the school in capable hands, having worked diligently to educate generations of Soil Food Web practitioners who are carrying forward her mission. Having relocated to South Carolina, she looks forward to focusing on her health and spending time with her husband, children, and cherished grandchildren.

Please join us in celebrating Dr. Ingham’s extraordinary career, her monumental contributions to the world of microbiology, and her enduring legacy. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for her years of dedication and wish her joy, relaxation, and treasured moments with family in the years to come.
