Leaf

How to Sample Foliage

Note that SFI labs cannot take plant material from foreign countries. You need to always send your plant material to the lab in your country.

As always, several samples should be taken to give as representative a set of foliar materials as possible.

Decide what part of the foliage you need to know about - the outer leaves, the inner leaves, shade leaves, sun leaves, the petiole, the bark on twigs or main branches, the flowers, the pollen, etc. Remove that part of the plant that you are interested in, touching the plant material to the least extent possible because your fingers carry microorganisms.

Place the plant material in a plastic bag, ship overnight mail to the closest SFI lab. Please include the correct sample submission form, completely filled out.
